DOUGIE'S BIOGRAPHY
Dougie Poynter was added into the band McFLY in 2004 as the bass player. The first album they released was called “Room on the Third Floor” (which went straight to number one on the charts). Dougie was the cute 15 soon to turn 16 year old that loved to skateboard and hang with his friends. At this time Dougie had spiky blonde hair and he loved wearing shorts and of course the Hurley t-shirts. Right before he got into the band his dad left. Dougie was stunned and to cope with everything he joined McFLY just to find out the guitarist Danny Jones was going through the same thing.
In 2005 Dougie started to change it was the year the band released their second album “Wonderland” (which also went straight to number one on the charts). Dougie was gonna turn 17 in November but before that all the things that happened had caught up to him. Dougie ended up dying his hair a purplish red colour, he also got a lip ring on his bottom lip and to top it off he started to wear eyeliner and dark clothing. Now Dougie was going through the depression stage of his life. In this time period Dougie sang a song he wrote when he was 14. The song is called “Silence Is a Scary Sound”
In 2006 Dougie had been able to finally straighten out his life. He let his hair grow out and coloured it dark brown then black with a blonde streak, but he kept the lip ring at times which didn’t look too bad with the longer hair. In this time the guys had been asked to be in a movie called “Just My Luck” with Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine. That’s when their new album came out called “Just My Luck” it featured 11 songs from their previous albums and one new one called Just My Luck. Also at this time the band released their third called “Motion in the Ocean”, and there “All the Greatest Hits” album which featured four new songs called The Heart Never Lies, Baby’s Coming Back, Don’t Wake Me Up and That Way You Make Me Feel.
In 2007 Dougie had finally grown out his hair longer and dies it back to the original dirty blonde. No albums where released in this year, however, A Greatest Hits album was released.
In 2008 Dougie had grown out his hair really long just in time for the release of their fourth album “radio: ACTIVE” and also managed to pull off a nose ring later on in the year. Now it’s been 4 years since he go into the band and he loves it. I think one of the quotes he said was the best part about being in the band it the fans and being on tour. The radio: ACTIVE tour was the biggest tour the band did.
In November of 2009 Dougie was reportedly going out with one of the singers from The Saturdays, Frankie Sandford. The couple ended up going out up in until there huge breakup in March 2010. While dating her Dougie ended up cutting his hair really short and started to wear skinny jeans. Which in previous interviews said he would never wear?
In 2010 as I said in the previous one Dougie went through the huge break up with Frankie Sandford in March. After the break up Dougie decided that short hair wasn’t him and he is now growing it back to the surfer style we all love. The guys are also working on their fourth album called “Here Comes The Storm”. They guys ended up in Atlanta, Georgia for about a month and a half working on their album with their long time friend Dallas Austin. And in one of the video chats they did with Dallas, Tom and Danny played a short part of one of their song and there’s a rumor going around that there’s another song called Hotel on a Hill.
Dougie has grown up a lot over the past 6 years not only look wise but to a degree he’s matured… a little.
